In a thrilling encounter at Gaddafi Arena in Jinja City, NEC FC faced against Gaddafi FC in a match that kept fans on the edge of their seats until the end. A penalty shoot-out ultimately decided the outcome, with Gaddafi FC emerging victorious with a 5-3 scoreline after a 1-1 draw in standard time.

First Half:

The action-packed first half saw both teams striving for dominance. Kayanja Brian’s well-timed header in the 30th minute, courtesy of Kakooza’s precision cross, put NEC FC in the lead. The goal resulted from coordinated teamwork, with Kamoga Ivan winning a free-kick that led to the decisive cross. However, Gaddafi FC responded swiftly. Mpata’s skillful conversion from the penalty spot, following Ssempijja’s foul in the box, leveled the score at Gaddafi Arena.

Second Half:

Coach Mbalangu’s strategic halftime changes breathed new life into the match. Maganda replaced Okiria between the goalposts, and Olega, Kavuma, Shamiru, and Ssebaggala were introduced into the fray, injecting fresh energy and determination into NEC FC’s gameplay. The team pressed forward with renewed vigor, attempting to secure the winning goal.

Despite several promising chances, including Kavuma’s shot that was thwarted by the goalkeeper and Shamiru’s attempt that was comfortably saved, the match remained locked in a tense stalemate. Ssekaayi and Acire were later brought on, bringing an added dimension to the team’s attacking options. Ssekaayi’s contributions down the right wing and Acire’s close attempt kept the pressure on Gaddafi FC.

Penalty Shoot-out:

With the final whistle signaling the end of regular time and the deadlock unbroken, the fate of the match was decided by a nerve-wracking penalty shoot-out. Kavuma and Mubutu delivered accurate spot-kicks for NEC FC, while Olega’s penalty was caught by the Gaddafi FC goalkeeper. Shamiru confidently converted his penalty, but Ssebaggala was unable to take the crucial last spot-kick for NEC FC Gaddafi FC displayed precision in their penalty execution, securing a 5-3 victory in the shoot-out.
