Buoyed by securing our first-ever final spot in the Stanbic Uganda Cup at the expense of table leaders BUL, we are poised to visit Kavumba with all guns blazing as we strive to keep our StarTimes title hopes alive.
The dream is alive:
No one, surely no one, gave us a chance of being title contenders at the start of the season as we had just gotten promoted. In fact, most pundits named us relegation candidates as we started our inaugural season. However, Mbalangu and his backroom staff have done exceedingly well, much to the surprise of many. With a spot in the Stanbic Uganda Cup Final already secured, we head to Kavumba with the hope of continuing our dream of a double until the very last minute.
We currently sit six points below the table leaders, with a game in hand. With a win from our trip to Kavumba, we shall shorten the gap at the summit to only 3 points, keeping an eye on the prize. We remain one of the only two contenders for a double this season and are ready to put up the fight until the very last minute as we continue to write our history in the football records in the land and beyond.
A look at our opponent:
The Bright Stars in Kavuma have collected 30 points from the 25 games they have played and come into this game with not much pressure, but rather seeking and playing for pride, as completing the season in a good position seems to be the only possibility. They have zero chance of becoming champions while also appearing unlikely to be relegated.
They have won only 6 times, losing on 7 occasions, while they have been specialists at draws, drawing 12 times, tied only with Mbarara City, next to no one else. Among those draws was one with us in the first round where what we thought was a last-minute winner was canceled, sending the game into a goalless draw.
They have conceded 31 goals compared to the 30 they have scored, with a negative goal difference. It’s worth noting that Nelson Senkatuka has contributed 43% of their total goals scored with 13 goals, highlighting how important he is to this team and how much of a threat he poses to us heading into this fixture.
