We returned to winning ways after an 82nd-minute goal from Mucureezi, who converted from the penalty spot, securing the win against a resilient Mbarara City side. Their goalkeeper, Abdul Kimera, had on numerous occasions stood in our way of scoring, making several saves in both halves of the encounter.

What happened:

NEC FC started with intent from the very start

Inour encounter against Mbarara City, we showed a masterclass in possession and intent. From the outset, we dominated the ball, weaving through Mbarara City’s defense with purpose and only precision lacked until the 82nd minute when we found the back of the net.

The game was littered with numerous attempts to break the deadlock, with players like Atendele delivering crosses that were inches away from being converted into goals. Jarieko James had a header that missed the mark, it was clear we were not just playing to keep the ball; we were in search of a breakthrough.

Ssebaggala was instrumental in the midfield, orchestrating plays that led to several shots on goal, one of which was brilliantly saved by Mbarara City’s goalkeeper. The team’s effort was relentless, with Mucureezi and Mutyaba also contributing with shots and set pieces that kept the pressure high.

The second half continued with the same intensity from NEC. Despite the frustration of not scoring early, our strategy did not waver. Substitutes like Emmanuel Ajo and Kiyemba infused fresh energy into the team, with Ajo nearly scoring with a header.

The moment of magic came when Mugalu was brought down in the penalty area after a sublime pass from Ssebaggala. Mucureezi confidently stepped up to take the penalty, slotting the ball home to finally give us the lead we had tirelessly worked for.

Enock Ssebaggala, was deservedly named Linqsoft Man of the Match for his outstanding performance throughout the game.
