Ssebwalunnyo Hannington secured our hard-earned 1-0 victory over URA FC in a tightly contested match, with a dramatic late penalty.

First Half

We dominated set-pieces early on. Kagawa was fouled for a free kick on the edge of the box on the left, which Wandera delivered, only for the URA goalkeeper to punch it away. Shortly after, Ssekamatte was pulled back in a similar position, but Wandera’s delivery was cleared for a goal kick. We continued to win free kicks in dangerous areas.

Tonny delivered two more — one blocked for a corner, with the resulting corner coming to nothing, and another from the right that failed to create a clear chance.

Musa was booked during one of the free-kick situations, and Ssekamatte’s subsequent delivery sailed out. The first shot on target came in the 24th minute when Ssekamatte struck a right-footed effort that was comfortably collected by the URA goalkeeper.

The half ended goalless despite our pressure from dead-ball situations.

Second Half

The game remained cagey. Seremba Joseph received a yellow card for URA. In the 83rd minute, URA missed a glorious sitter. We responded with a lightning counter-attack as Ssebwalunnyo launched a quick long ball to Musa, who found Jarieko James.

Jarieko beat the URA goalkeeper but his shot whistled agonizingly wide of the empty net by just an inch.

Late Drama

Deep into stoppage time, Jarieko James was brought down inside the box, and the referee pointed to the spot. Ssebwalunnyo Hannington, our goalkeeper, stepped up with nerves of steel to take the penalty.

In front of a roaring crowd, he placed the ball on the spot, took his run-up, and delivered a perfectly clean, powerful strike that arrowed straight into the top corner — an unstoppable rocket that bulged the roof of the net. Pure ecstasy erupted across our fans as our hero between the sticks became the match-winner.

What a moment! Hannington the goalkeeper turns hero and grabs all three points for us!
