The club has proudly contributed four of our brightest talents to the Uganda National Team, The Cranes, for their upcoming CHAN Qualifier against Burundi.

This selection is down to a wealthy and depth of talent within our squad but also highlights our role in nurturing players who can excel at the highest levels of competition.

First off, guarding the goal, we have Hannington Ssebyalunnyo. Known for his commanding presence between the posts, Ssebyalunnyo’s selection among three goalkeepers speaks volumes of his skill and reliability.

His ability to thwart opposition attacks has already earned him two Man of the Match accolades this season, proving his worth both to NEC and now, to the National Team.

Moving to defense, our very own Gideon Odongo has been selected as one of seven defenders.

Odongo, since joining us in 2022 for our FUFA Big League season has been a consistent and dynamic left full-back. He has been pivotal in our defensive lineups. His development has been nothing short of spectacular, bringing balance and flair to our backline.

In the heart of the midfield, Enock Ssebaggala steps up to represent NEC FC. Ssebaggala, who has already shown his class by being named Man of the Match in a remarkable performance against Kitara FC, joins five other midfielders in the national setup.

His vision, control, and ability to dictate the pace of the game will be crucial for Uganda in the qualifiers when he is selected.

Lastly, the forward line sees the inclusion of the youthful James Jarieko. With his electrifying pace, Jarieko has caught the eye of national scouts. Like Ssebyalunnyo, his two Man of the Match awards this season signal the arrival of a new star.

His inclusion among nine forwards for the Cranes is a proud moment for NEC FC, as we watch one of our own take the stage on an international level.

This quartet from NEC FC is not just a representation of individual talent but a reflection of the club’s commitment to developing players who can excel on any stage.

We urge you, our loyal supporters, to rally behind these players as they aim to make history with The Cranes.

Let’s cheer them on, not just as supporters of NEC FC but as proud Ugandans. Their journey is our journey, and together, we can celebrate each pass, tackle, save, and goal. Here’s to Hannington, Gideon, Enock, and James – may they soar high and bring glory to both club and country!
