Today, February 26, 2026, we head to Bombo Barracks to face UPDF FC in the Stanbic Uganda Cup Round of 32, kicking off at 3:00 PM EAT. This knockout clash is single-elimination, if it’s level after 90 minutes, we go straight to penalties, no extra time. As the first-ever meeting between us and UPDF in this historic competition, it’s a fresh chapter in our rivalry, and a golden opportunity to claim our maiden victory in their backyard.
Cup Context
The Stanbic Uganda Cup, now in its 52nd edition, pits teams from across divisions in a thrilling bracket. We earned our spot after navigating the round of 64, eliminating Mabira FC in Kasese, while UPDF advanced to the Round of 32 after eliminating Nsambya Sports Club and now hosts us after the draw on February 18. A win propels us to the Round of 16, keeping alive dreams of cup silverware and potential CAF Confederation Cup qualification.
Head-to-Head:
While this is our debut clash in the Cup, we’ve met UPDF five times in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League since our promotion. The record favours us heavily, with 2 wins and 3 draws.
We’ve kept them winless, with four clean sheets. But here’s the twist, all three draws have occurred at Bombo Barracks, their fortress. Our two victories came on home soil, making this fixture our chance to break that away hoodoo and secure a first-ever win in UPDF’s backyard. This pattern underscores the challenge: Bombo has been a tough nut to crack, but our unbeaten streak provides momentum.
