For the first time in our club’s history, NEC FC heads to the FUFA Super 8 final to face off against SC Villa at Kadiba Stadium this evening. This marks our second appearance in the tournament, having finished 6th in our debut last year after a dramatic penalty shootout victory over SC Villa following a goalless draw in the 2024 FUFA Super 8.
The Numbers Behind the Fixture

This will be the sixth clash between NEC FC and SC Villa. NEC has dominated recent encounters, winning the last three, including two StarTimes Uganda Premier League fixtures (2-1 at MTN Omondi Stadium and 1-0 at Wankulukuku) and the penalty shootout triumph in last year’s FUFA Super 8 (NEC 2(4): (3)2 SC Villa). However, SC Villa holds a historical goal scored edge, having scored 5-0 against us across two league matches in their title-winning 2023/24 season (3-0 at Wankulukuku and 2-0 at MTN Omondi Stadium). Since those defeats, NEC has been unbeaten against the 16-time champions, and we aim to extend that streak in this high-stakes final.
A Second Final in Under Three Years
Under the guidance of Coach Hussein Mbalangu, NEC FC is contesting its second final in just 16 months. In his debut 2023/24 season, Mbalangu led us to our first-ever Stanbic Uganda Cup final, where we fell 1-0 to Kitara FC. Now, he has the team poised for potential silverware, highlighting the resilience and fighting spirit he’s instilled. A busy transfer window has bolstered the squad, with key reinforcements adding depth and quality as we chase history.
