We launch our FUFA Super 8 2025 journey this Thursday, August 28, 2025, hosting Express FC at Hamz Stadium, Nakivubo, in the first leg of a thrilling double-legged encounter.
The match, set to be played under floodlights, kicks off at 7:00 PM and will be broadcast live on FUFA TV. The return leg is scheduled for Tuesday, September 9, 2025, at the same venue and time, promising another exciting clash.

Express FC earned their spot in the FUFA Super 8 as league champions Vipers FC are unavailable, participating in the 2025 CECAFA Kagame Cup in Rwanda. Despite finishing 9th in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League last season, Express FC were selected as the 8th team, while NEC FC, having secured the second place in the StarTimes UPL last season, take the top seed in this year’s tournament.
This will be our first encounter with Express in this tournament. However, we have faced them four times in league play, with each team securing two wins. Across these matches, 17 goals have been scored, with Express holding a slight edge, having netted 9 goals to NEC FC’s 8.
The FUFA Super 8 draw pairs teams based on last season’s league standings: the 1st-placed team faces the 8th, 2nd meets 7th, 3rd takes on 6th, and 4th clashes with 5th. NEC FC, who finished 5th last season, earned their place after defeating SC Villa in a dramatic penalty shootout following a 2-2 draw in the 2024 edition. BUL FC was crowned Champions last season after defeating Vipers 6-5 in penalties. The Uganda Cranes select team (which will not appear in this edition) secured third place in after a defeating Kitara FC by 2-0 while KCCA FC finish in fifth place, NEC FC in sixth, SC Villa in seventh, and Maroons FC in the eighth position.
As we enter our second FUFA Super 8 campaign, NEC FC as always is determined to challenge for the title. Join us at Hamz Stadium or tune in to FUFA TV to support the team as we kick off the 2025 season.
