History

The formation of the football club was initially crafted from the philosophy of having harmonized physical workout sessions amongst the staff of NEC for body fitness. The ideas and ambitions of the members grew bigger leading to formation of football team that started playing friendly matches with established football clubs within Kampala.

Over time, the very good results against the opponents triggered members’ consciousness to mobilize and get registered under association football which is competitive under the Federation of Uganda Football Associations. (FUFA)

Registered as NEC FC by FUFA, club’s debut season in the FUFA 5th Division League under the Nakawa Football Association was remarkably sublime and exceptional. NEC FC was subsequently promoted to the 4th Division in the 2018/2019 season.

The 2019/2020 season saw us promoted to the Kampala Regional league after successfully defeating Kasokoso Farmers FC in the Nakawa DFA playoffs.

In the 2020/2021 season, the club encountered the Covid-19 outbreak which halted the season prematurely with the club being 3rd on the table. Owing to that, the top teams of each division, before stoppage, were crowned champions hence respective playoffs and progression thereto.

The Covid-19 outbreak season gave us more time to prepare and come back stronger and it is no surprise that in the 2021/2022 season, the blessing in disguise came to pass when we were crowned Scorpion Group’s champions by the Kampala Regional League. We consequently played against Cobra Group’s champions Water FC successfully and rapped up the promotion to FUFA Big League, with a 1-0-win courtesy of a goal by Gaganga Godfrey

During the course of this journey, we collected 57 points as a result of 17 wins and 6 draws; with 11 wins here at the Coffee Grounds and 6 times winning away from home including wins in Midigo, Bombo, Masindi, Lugazi, Lira and the last one coming on the last day in Mbale.

We scored 45 goals across this season, and these were shared among 13 scorers led by the Captain Kavuma Marvin who scored 14, Kiberu Tonny scoring 8, Walugembe Julius 6, Sserunkuuma Geofrey 3, Ajuna Richard, Kazibwe Julius MAgu, Kamoga Ivan, Ssesaazi Sulaiman and Ssekiranda Derrick scoring 2 each while Nyainga Stephen, Kimwero Shamir, Sekaayi Farouq and Ssewankaambo Jonathan scored once.

We conceded only 22 goals and managed to play 13 games without conceding, as the striking force, our defense was on a mission to UPL alike. It’s worth noting that our Head Coach, Mr. Lukyamuzi Micheal Junior Skills and his technical staff had the best wining percentage of 56.7% of any technical staff that manage any team for the whole season.

Our journey was such beautiful as we got promoted to the StarTimes Uganda Premier League after securing the 3rd and last promotion position to the StarTimes Uganda Premier League in the first season of playing FUFA Big League football.
