Nec FC return to Startimes Uganda Premier League action on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, with a home fixture against Lugazi FC at the MTN Omondi Stadium, Lugogo.
The Diehards head into Matchday 2 with confidence after making a strong start to the 2026/27 campaign, defeating neighbors KCCA FC 2-0 in the opening league fixture.
Richard Basangwa opened the scoring in the Lugogo derby before Pius Obuya produced a moment of brilliance from distance to double Nec FC’s advantage and seal all three points.
The victory provided an ideal start to the new campaign, and the Diehards will now be looking to carry that momentum into their first home fixture of the season.
The visitors will also arrive at the MTN Omondi Stadium in good spirits after beginning their campaign with a 2-1 victory over league newcomers Kigezi HomeBoyz FC.
Lugazi will be aiming to build on that result and make it back-to-back victories, setting the stage for another competitive encounter between the two sides.

“Lugazi FC is a league team. Most players have cut across from one team to another, they are the same. But NEC FC has top players, eligible and quality players who we shall use against Lugazi.”

TEAM NEWS
NEC FC will continue to be without forward Fahad Bayo, who is recovering from a muscle strain. Bayo is currently undergoing light training as he continues his rehabilitation.
Defender Ibrahim Musa will also miss the fixture after sustaining a knee injury involving a partial tear of the posterior cruciate ligament (PCL). The defender remains in rehabilitation as he works towards his return.
Kagawa Ssenoga will also miss the encounter due to injury.
The rest of the squad is fit and available for selection ahead of Tuesday’s fixture.
HEAD-TO-HEAD
Today’s encounter will be the fifth meeting between Nec FC and Lugazi FC in the Startimes Uganda Premier League.
The Diehards have enjoyed the upper hand in the recent meetings, winning three of the last four league encounters, while Lugazi FC have claimed one victory.
