The Stanbic Uganda Cup quarter-final draw, conducted this morning at our sponsor; Kansai Plascon headquarters in the Industrial Area, has delivered a true showstopper tie as we host Vipers SC.

The highly anticipated clash will be played at the MTN Omondi Stadium in Lugogo between 1st and 6th April 2026, promising one of the most thrilling domestic cup quarter finals in recent Ugandan football history.

NEC FC

This is more than just a quarter-final — it is a golden chance to make history in this domestic cup as we look for our first silver wear having come short in 2024. In the Round of 64, NEC FC defeated Mabira Town Council FC 2-0 without conceding. In the Round of 32, we overcame UPDF FC 2-0 away at Bombo Barracks Grounds, again keeping a clean sheet. Most recently, in the Round of 16, we recorded a commanding 2-0 victory over Lugazi FC at MTN Omondi Stadium. That makes it three consecutive clean-sheet wins, each by a 2-0 scoreline; a testament to our organised defending and attacking efficiency as we head into the quarter-finals.

Vipers SC

The defending champions and one of Uganda’s most decorated clubs, arrive in formidable shape after cruising past Iganga United 4-0 in the previous round. Packed with experience, attacking quality, and a proven trophy-winning mentality, the Kitende-based side will start as favourites on paper. This will be no hinderance to a determined NEC FC looking to make a mark this season.

A Historic First in the Uganda Cup

What makes this fixture even more special is that NEC and Vipers are meeting for the very first time in the Stanbic Uganda Cup tournament.

The two sides have faced each other regularly in recent years, but always in other competitions. We have clashed multiple times in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League over the past three seasons, producing several memorable encounters — including our stunning 3-1 home victory in 2024/25 StarTimes UPL season opener and a series of tight draws and narrow defeats. We have also battled twice in the FUFA Super 8, with both ties ending in draws (0-0 and 1-1).

This quarter-final therefore marks a brand-new chapter in our rivalry — the first-ever meeting in Uganda’s premier knockout competition.

Recent league meetings have been closely contested including a 1-1 draw earlier this season), adding extra spice and familiarity to what is already a high-stakes occasion. For NEC, playing at home where they have previously frustrated Vipers adds another layer of confidence.

History awaits at MTN Omondi Stadium Lugogo.
