What promises to be an entertaining encounter is upon us this evening as we take on our rivals since the Big League – Kitara, who are table leaders and wish to not only extend their lead at the table but also maintain a 100% record against the diehards with a fourth straight win. However, Mbalangu and his soldiers are also set to capitalize on this chance to take down the giant and keep their title hopes alive. The game kicks at 7:00PM and Sanyuka Prime will bring the game live exclusively on StarTimes.

Previous encounters

The teams have met only three times, twice in the FUFA Big League and once in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League, and NEC has not only lost all of them but also haven’t been able to score a goal in this fixture while conceding four. This fixture has also been played in three different locations: Kigaya Primary School in Hoima, Coffee Grounds in Bugoloobi, and Masindi Stadium in Masinda. This evening’s encounter shall see a fourth Stadium at MTN Omondi Lugogo.

With each passing game, NEC has shown improved performance in this fixture, falling short only on goals, while Kitara has also found and converted those half chances to win the encounter.

The most recent one in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League was perhaps one of the best games we have played without winning—a good game full of chances but without the ability to convert. Just when we slightly switched off, Ssemugabi powered a shot that changed everything and spoiled what would have been a good day in the office.

Ready for redemption

With the magnitude and background of this fixture, Mbalangu and his men are up for redemption this evening at a vital time in the league as they take to the field of play. Given the critical importance of the fixture and what it means to the title challenge, there seems to be no need for extra motivation for the boys, but rather a team issue that needs to be collectively handled for pride in wearing the NEC FC badge.

A win today propels us back to third place, level on points with second-placed BUL, while also narrowing the gap to only four points with the table leaders.
