As NEC FC anticipates a challenging marathon in December, let’s delve into the highs and lows of November, a month marked by hard-earned points, debuts, and a promising glimpse into the team’s potential.

Performance Analysis:

Collecting 4 points from 3 games, November presented a mixed bag of results. A tough home loss to Gaddafi was followed by a narrow victory in Luzira against Maroons, and a hard-fought draw against Wakiso Giants. The team managed a modest 2 goals, with Allan Mugalu and Ssebaggala scoring crucial goals against Maroons and Wakiso Giants respectively.

Debuts

The month witnessed the emergence of new debutants to StarTimes Uganda Premier League 2023/24. Sserunkuuma earned his first start of the season, while Kamoga marked his debut in the same game. Ssempijja continued I the right back with a second consecutive start, building on his full debut in October. Ssesaazi made a noteworthy full debut against Gaddafi, highlighting depth to the squad.

Outstanding Performances:

Kimwero Shamir stole the spotlight, earning the Man of the Match accolade for his stellar performance against Maroons FC. Notably, he played all three games without being substituted, showcasing consistency and skill. Mugalu and Ssebaggala maintained their impressive form, contributing crucial goals in the Maroons and Wakiso Giants games.

Rashid Okocha’s brilliance shone through November, and a masterful cross, culminating in Ssenaggala’s goal— was simply a glimpse into Okocha’s exceptional performances that have been nothing short of brilliant throughout the month.

Consistency in the Squad:

Five players—Samson Kiirya, Acire John Paul, Rashid Okocha, Ssesaazi Sulaiman, and Kimero Shamir—played every minute in November, underscoring their reliability. Captain Kavuma Marvin led the team to the field of play twice and contributed from the bench against Maroons.

Squad Depth and Rotations:

Gavin Mubutu earned his debut in the StarTimes UPL, replacing Thembo in a draw against Wakiso Giants. Kiberu Tonny was introduced to the matchday squad, an encouraging sign of developing depth within the team.

Injury Updates and Recovery:

Injuries posed challenges in the lead-up to the Gaddafi game, with crucial players like Ssebaggala and Mugalu temporarily sidelined. However, both recovered in time for the Maroons clash. Additionally, Maganda Ismael successfully recovered and featured for Catda FC on a double license basis. Mato Brian has also started training with the Senior team, a big step in his recovery journey.

Looking Ahead to December:

December promises a challenging schedule, with two away visits and one home games in the first 10 days. As the team will travel to Kitara and BUL FC, host URA in night football, and welcome Express FC after a 17-day rest. The players are geared up for the intense upcoming fixtures, ready to leave their mark on the pitch.
