A Stunning Victory for NEC FC! In a highly-anticipated clash under the floodlights at MTN Omondi Stadium – Lugogo, NEC FC emerged triumphant with a 2-0 win over KCCA FC. Rwothomio was the hero of the night, scoring twice to secure a memorable victory.
A stunning First Half
The game kicked off with early pressure from Shaban, who won a free-kick, but it was well dealt with by the NEC FC defense. In the 5th minute, a brilliant long ball from the defense found Mugalu, who delivered a perfect pass to Rwothomio Cromwel. He outwitted his markers and chipped the ball past the goalkeeper, with the attempt to clear it off the line in vain earning us a valuable goal.
KCCA piled on the pressure, and Shaban remained a constant threat, even having a penalty appeal waved away. However, Kiirya was in fine form, making crucial saves to keep NEC FC ahead. In the 28th minute, Ssesaaza replaced Owiny in the central defensive role, aiming to stabilize the defense.
A minute later, Mugalu won a free-kick, and Ssesaazi, fresh from coming on, delivered a stunning free-kick that found Rwothomio unmarked in the box, doubling NEC FC’s lead.
KCCA made double substitutions in the 32nd minute, but it had little effect on the game, and the first half ended with NEC FC leading 2-0.
Second Half Strategy
In the second half, KCCA continued to apply pressure, but the NEC FC defense, led by Acire and Ssesaazi, stood firm. KCCA struggled to break through, with NEC FC’s backline displaying exceptional defensive skills.
Tactical Changes
NEC FC’s gaffer made three strategic substitutions, introducing Kavuma, Odongo, and Kakooza for Mugalu, Okocha, and Dhata.
In the 70th minute, Rwothomio Cromwel came close to scoring a third goal but narrowly missed.
Late Action
Rwothomio was withdrawn 15 minutes before full time, with Kayanja coming on. The game saw some impressive interplay, with Kayanja missing a golden opportunity to make it three-nil.
Kavuma’s header from close range and a long-range effort kept the KCCA goalkeeper on his toes. Acire and Ssebaggala received bookings, but the game ended with NEC FC securing a convincing 2-0 victory.
